ABOUT THE ARTIST
Based in the UK Peter S. Faulkner is a portrait artist, classically trained at Wimbledon College of Art in London. A practitioner of the sight-size portrait technique, his works though often portraying contemporary themes, are composed and painted with classical sensibility. During his early career he applied his skills in a variety of working environments, from film production and design companies to sculpting for Madame Tussauds. The diversity of jobs allowed him to develop and hone his skills leading him to realize his potential for portraiture, the area in which he now specializes and finds the greatest artistic satisfaction. “Faces and people have always fascinated me and one of the joys of portrait painting is that every commission and portrait is different, it’s always a new challenge, for no two people are ever the same, not even if the sitters are twins”. Great importance is given to capturing not simply the fundamental likeness of his subjects but to realizing subtle nuances that reveal insight and depth in the personality of each individual sitter. |
